Power Quality (PQ) Cell
Power Quality (PQ) cell established in 2017 aims to provide hands-on experience to the students and help various industries for solving the problems related to Electrical Power Quality.
The PQ cell offers consultancy to the industries in areas such as Reactive power audit, Harmonic Measurement and Analysis (Audit), Transient Audit, Voltage Profile (Sag/Swell) Audit, Flicker Audit as well as training to abreast industrialist with latest trends in electrical engineering, electrical bill analysis and addresses many such issues related to electrical power.
D. M. Tagare Power Quality Experience Center
In this era of automation, Power Quality has become important for keeping production line running continuously and increasing the efficiency of the overall production. However, many stakeholders like industry and utility are not trained in the field of Power Quality and there is need of sophisticated training facility. Industry is looking for trained manpower (Students) who understands Power Quality and can solve the related problem. Industry and utility are looking for consultancy (measurement, analysis) in the Power Quality area which needs high end PQ analyzers.
To cater the requirements of industry, utility and to train the budding engineers in the Power quality area, PQ cell of Department of Electrical Engineering Established State of the art “D. M. Tagare Power Quality Experience Center” in 2021.Smt. Mira Digambar Tagare donated Rs. 25 lakh and books (transactions) worth Rs. 80 lakhs to setup the laboratory in the memory of Late. Shri D. M. Tagare, who is known as father (‘Pitamah’) of the Capacitor industry in India.A grant of Rs. 12 Lakh was received from AICTE under Modernization of Laboratory scheme which was used to purchase ultra-modern Power Quality analyzers. This laboratory has latest equipment (worth 60 lakhs) like APFC panel, passive harmonic filter, active harmonic filter, Dynamic Voltage Restorer, Harmonic Load generator, Transient Voltage Surge Suppressor etc.
